Salary (Grade H3): £36,731 – £47,219 pa incl. London Weighting
Though the post might suit someone with a more artistic, technical or production focussed background the key skills required are an understanding of game mechanics, the preparing of design documents and the crafting of player experience. Appointees would also need a passion for teaching, a love of games, a willingness to engage fully with the student community and a willingness to engage with innovation and scholarship in Teaching and Learning.
Ideally we would like someone with a PhD, but candidates with exceptional professional experience/qualification are welcome to apply. Although technical skills are not a requirement, a high degree of computer literacy is, as is a willingness to learn to use and teach various software packages used on the course.
The department is supportive, optimistic and very engaged with the student community: appointees would be expected to share these traits.
Other skills that would recommend a candidate include (in no particular order): any and all software use and/or accreditation; teaching experience; industry contacts; board game design experience; experience or qualification in production/agile; shipped titles; art skills; involvement with professional organisations (IGDA, UKIE, TIGA); knowledge of Multi Media Fusion 2/2.5; academic publication; a master’s degree; pitching and presentation skills.
