Job: Tenure-Line Assistant or Associate Professor (American University, USA)

The School of Communication at American University, Washington, D.C., invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning August 1, 2015.

Responsibilities include teaching a 2-2 load of undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as participation in department, school and university activities. Faculty work closely with students on individual and group projects and serve as mentors. Salary and benefits are competitive.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have both strong research or technological expertise and applied professional experience in strategic communication. Area of strategic communication specialization is open but could include video games and strategic engagement, mobile platforms, digital consumer culture, social media marketing, media analytics and big data, or online advertising. The successful candidate’s work must be grounded in communication theories about emerging media, industry transformation, and society. The successful candidate will have an existing or emerging body of work recognized for its excellence in the academic and professional communities as well as an active agenda for continuing original and innovative contributions in the field and specific targets for external research support. Teaching experience and external funding of previous research are preferred. A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field is required.
