Job: DePaul University, School of Design – Game Design (2 positions)

DePaul University’s College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) School of Design is hiring! Located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant Loop, The School of Design, which launched January 2015, offers a learning environment that nurtures the development of new kinds of designers: flexible, interdisciplinary, life-long learners trained as collaborative problem seekers and solvers.

We invite candidates to apply for one of two full-time, non tenure track, one-year positions (renewable) in one of the most innovative and established Game Development programs in the country. Our Game Development degree program features concentrations in programming and game design/production, is highly cross-disciplinary, linking closely with our programs in Animation, Interactive Media, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Cinema, and Computer Graphics

Ideal candidates for the position will have an active interest in game design and development and have teaching and development experience in several of the following areas:  game design principles; prototyping, evaluation and iterative design; game scripting; level design plus working knowledge of one or more game engines or development environments (Unity, UE4, etc.); systems design; art games; games for change; history, evolution and theory of games; narrative game design.

The primary responsibility for both positions is teaching and curriculum development. Other responsibilities include advising students, engaging in creative and/or research activity, and strengthening our industry outreach program. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Ideal candidates for the position will have teaching, creative or research experience, as well as professional experience in the field. MFA or PhD strongly encouraged to apply; qualified candidates without a MFA or PhD are also encouraged to apply. Positions are open immediately.
