Laguna College of Art and Design is currently seeking an assistant/associate professor in the Game Art major. The College is located in an internationally recognized arts colony in Laguna Beach, California and offers a diversity of majors in Animation, Design and Digital Media, Fine Art, Game Art, and Illustration.
Position Summary
The Game Art major faculty is a tightly integrated teaching team with a focus on our motto of “Great Art Matters.” The Game Art department is dedicated to creating students with strong foundational skills and a strong respect for teamwork. We seek candidates with a record of excellence in creative practice, innovative research, substantive scholarship and teaching in one or more, but not limited to the following interdisciplinary areas:
- Concept art and visual storytelling
- 3D modeling for world building and characters
- Game prototyping in Unity, scripting and user experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Full time faculty will be involved in assessment, coordinating workshop events for the student body, collaboration on curriculum development to match industry standards, and recruitment. We are a faculty focused on collaboration, between our students, between our faculty, and with other schools. We are looking for innovators capable of leading our students in the creation of great games and great game art. We are one of the strongest undergraduate production pipelines in the country.

- Successful candidates must have an MFA, or equivalent terminal degree in a focus related to the interactive arts or comparable years in professional experience with plans on obtaining a terminal degree.
- Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the undergraduate game program but the successful candidate may be asked to teach a graduate course in the MFA.
- An ideal candidate will have a well-developed research agenda that will inform and advance the future of our interactive art form.
- All candidates must to be able to demonstrate 3DS Max proficiency.
Physical Essential Functions
Siting, standing, keyboarding, may lift up to 20 lbs. without assistance, grasping, pulling, pushing, reaching, and moving from one place to another. This position takes place indoors in a classroom environment sitting at a desk, standing for long periods of time and occasionally working in front of a computer. Occasional bending, stooping, and squatting.
