CfP: INTETAIN 2017 – Call For Demos and Late Breaking / Work in Progress Papers

Call For  Demos and Late Breaking / Work in Progress Papers
INTETAIN 2017
9th International Conference on Intelligent Technologies for Interactive Entertainment
June 20-22, 2017 – Funchal, Madeira
http://www.intetain.org

Digital technologies are woven deep into the fabric of our everyday existence. Play and entertainment serve a crucial role in determining how such technologies evolve, having served both as catalyst for the development of novel devices and interaction paradigms, as well as proposing novel uses for technology.

The 9th International Conference on Intelligent Technologies for Interactive Entertainment (INTETAIN 2017) celebrates the future of Interactive Entertainment by inviting researchers to submit contributions around developments and insights in art, design, science, and engineering regarding novel entertainment-focused devices, paradigms, reconceptualisations, and reconfigurations of entertainment experiences.

INTETAIN is a small gathering of curious minds, focused on supporting a community of practice. Instead of crowds of people who may miss the chance to connect in the face of overly tight timetabling, we prefer to have a select group of people conversing about a select group of papers.

Topics of interest for INTETAIN include, but are not limited to:
– Entertainment AI: procedural content generation, agents, and machine learning
– Game and character design: tools, theories, and case studies
– Gamification and serious games: principles and applications
– Human factors: emotion, immersion, skill, and style
– Non-human agencies: media, music, robot, and animal
– Intelligent environments: ambient, virtual, and mixed reality
– Interactive media: TV, social media, art, and storytelling
– Invasion of entertainment: locative media, mobile guides, and companions
– Novel interfaces and sensors: affective, multimodal, and bodily interactions

Late Breaking / Work in Progress Papers

Late Breaking / Work in Progress papers should not exceed 6 pages in length including references in the Springer LNICST format.  We define “late breaking” work as current work that is very new, and we define “work in progress” work as early results in new studies.

Late Breaking / Work in Progress submissions will be presented in a poster session, although at the discretion of the program chairs selected submissions maybe invited to present the work in one of the paper tracks as a short presentation.

Demos

The Demo session provides a stage for showcasing novel technologies and technology solutions.  Authors are encouraged to demonstrate work in progress and that show the latest innovative ideas in areas related to Intetain.  Demo papers should not exceed 6 pages in length including references in the Springer LNICST format.  Demo papers should describe the technology being demonstrated, the reasoning behind it and ideally provide a link to a video illustrating the demo.   If accepted at least one author must attend the conference in order to present the demo at the conference venue.  Specific requirements will be arranged with presenters of accepted demos however demos should be self-supporting as the organizers will only be able to provide space, electricity and an internet connection.

Submissions must contain original unpublished work and may not be under consideration for any other conference or journal.  All submissions will be subjected to blind review by a panel of experts and will be evaluated on the basis of originality, significance, quality of research, quality of writing, and contribution to conference program diversity. Accepted submissions will be included in the conference proceedings which will be published as part of the Springer Lecture Notes of the Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering Series.  If accepted at least one author must attend the conference in order to present the paper.

All Submissions must be made via confy at:  http://confy.eai.eu/#conftrack-overview/conf/52278
You will need to register to the system if you do not already have a registration.
