C.W. Post will launch a new graduate program in Digital Game Design and Development in Sept. 2011 and is seeking a Director for the new program. The position will involve substantial teaching responsibilities as well as program administration. Therefore, this individual should demonstrate consistent scholarly/artistic activity which has received national/international recognition in Game Design or a related field. The Director will be instrumental in shaping this innovative graduate program, including curriculum creation and review, recruitment of full time and adjunct faculty, facilities management, coordination of faculty assignments and class and event schedules, recruitment of students, program budget, relations with Advisory Board and larger industry, and alumni relations.

Situated on the beautiful C.W. Post campus, and close to New York City’s thriving game design community, this program will afford its Director an opportunity to develop a unique educational experience for students drawn from undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Digital Arts, Fine Arts, Game Development, and various Liberal Arts fields where storytelling is an important tool.
Qualifications:
• M.F.A., Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a gaming-related field such as Digital Arts, Computer Science, Interactive Multimedia or Game Design.
• Active experience with the game industry as a designer and/or team leader.
• Strong administrative skills and collaborative style.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technologists, artists and designers on team projects. Current knowledge of industry-standard game development tools a necessity.
• University-level teaching experience is expected. The Program Director will be expected to teach as a full time faculty member in the program as well as serving as its administrator.
• Familiarity with the New York City-based game industry is necessary.
• Experience in developing or overseeing a similar program is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with academic assessment processes a plus.
Salary: Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
