Research Assistant/Associate in Web Games and Technology Enhanced Education (City University London, UK)

The post holder will join the vibrant and multidisciplinary team at City ehealth Research Centre (http://www.city.ac.uk/cerc), collaborating with national and international partners on grants funded by prestigious bodies such as the EC, ECDC, DH, NHS, HPA and others.

The post holder will be responsible for the research and evaluation of an educational web games project (www.edugames4all.org) evaluate the study conducted for the Global Hand-washing Day 2010 and develop a visualisation game for GHD 2011, mapping scores in the edugames4all games to a map of the world. In addition, the post holder will research knowledge and attitude based evaluations, study of game styles and game mechanics for teaching the learning objectives, and on further improvements of the games for other audiences and domains. Furthermore, the post holder will be investigating the use of games and technology enhanced education for teaching purposes in healthcare, and other domains.

The post holder will preferably hold an MSc or PhD in computer science, computer games, e-learning, health informatics, e-health, information science or equivalent degrees. The post holder will have experience of working in academic research or an equivalent industrial experience, and the ability to conduct independent research. Experience in developing educational web sites and web games for children is desirable.
