Understanding design as research, the DIGRA 2014 committee invites submissions of games that fill in the blanks. Games should ostensibly fill in the blanks of design or ludic experience, offering new game play experiences, highlighting spaces that are relatively uninhabited by other playful experiences or that simply remind players to play differently. What types of play have been overlooked? How does your game expand, explore or further the practice of making play experiences? How does your game or toy work in the context of design as research?
DIGRA 2014 invites submissions for a showcase of games and related media to be displayed at the DIGRA conference in Snowbird Utah. Digital and analog play are both welcome. The games will be available for play by conference attendees and the visiting public.
The Venue
Selected works will be displayed during the DIGRA 2014 conference. This showcase blends exhibition style display with the openness of arcades. Work may be handled and played with – please plan accordingly. Visitors will be allowed to play the work in whatever context is appropriate. The conference typically has more than 250 participants from a variety of academic disciplines in games.
Submitters may elect to have their work shown on a video reel displayed in parallel to the exhibit.
Exhibiting:
Exhibitors and artists must provide any technology or materials needed to present the work. All shipping is the responsibility of the submitter.
Exhibitors will also be invited to participate in a Artist/Designer panel at the conference.
