CfP: WyrdCon Academic Book – “Convergence of Interactive Theater”

from Amber Eager (Summit book Editor for WyrdCon):

Following the success of last year’s convention and academic program we’re preparing for this year’s convention. Just like last year, in addition to various games and events there is an academic portion featuring various interactive theater theorists, critics, craftsman and designers who will explain their art and demonstrate their creations in both interactive panels and hands-on workshops. As a part of this event we’re again soliciting for articles for a PDF book that we’ll be putting out in conjunction with this academic portion. This PDF book will be comprised of articles, essays and other written works revolving around the summit’s theme “Convergence of Interactive Theater.”

Interactive Theater is the concept where the audience and actors are both part of the performance and are commonly one and the same. Activities such as Live Action Role Playing, also known as LARP, is one such theater concept having been around for decades. Others such as ARGs (also known as Alternate Reality Games) or even Live Simulations are also included in this definition.

Article authors are welcome from all styles and genres of interactive theater, both veteran and new individuals and no matter where they live. We want to capture interactive theater in as many of its different forms as we can. If you are interested in contributing to this publication please have your article in no later than April 20, 2010. All
contributors who have their articles published will be sent a copy of the PDF whether they attend the convention or not and before it’s released to the general public post convention via the web.

If you want more information on WyrdCon or want to find out how to participate as a summit panelist/presenter please contact the convention organizers here: http://wyrdcon.com/wp/contact-us/.
