DiGRA: Candidate for Executive Board – Thomas Rousse (Secretary)

Thomas Rousse, Nomination for Secretary:

POSITION STATEMENT: If I have the opportunity to serve as Secretary, I will have four priorities: 1.) ensuring meetings and events are scheduled and conducted as efficiently and as painlessly as possible; 2.) disseminating the actions of the board in concise but complete minutes to the general listserv within 48 hours of every meeting; 3.) soliciting and supporting agenda items from outside the executive board; and 4.) following up on all points of action or requests for information decided upon in the minutes. I’ve served on more than a dozen executive boards and I’ve worked in a research lab as an administrative assistant, so I have a fair amount of experience in juggling schedules and taking minutes. I typically take detailed minutes for record keeping purposes and provide a 150-200 word executive summary; I’m more than happy to work with the new executive board or the needs and interests of the membership to make the minutes more useful and effective. I hope I can be of service to DiGRA.

BIO: Thomas Rousse has just completed his first year of study at IT University of Copenhagen’s Games MSc. His research interests include free speech and censorship, novel forms of expression, and the experimental use of games to gather network data. After completing his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, he worked as a qualitative research assistant at Noshir Contractor’s Science of Networks in Communities. He currently serves as producer on LAZA KNITEZ!!, a retro-style arcade game that recently won the Indie Sensation Award at Nordic Game 2012.
