DiGRA Rising Star Program for ECR/PP & PhD Students

Following the success of the ECR/PP keynote at this year’s DiGRA conference, we are delighted to launch a new award: the DiGRA Rising Star Spotlight. This program aims to celebrate and showcase the work of emerging scholars in our community, giving greater visibility to their research and contributions to the community.

What is the Rising Star?

Each quarter, DiGRA will highlight several Rising Stars—PhD students or ECRs—through a feature in the DiGRA newsletter and on our website. In addition to this spotlight, the selected scholar will be invited to give a short online presentation to the DiGRA community.

At the end of each year, one scholar will be named Rising Star of the Year. This honour will include recognition at the AGM, a dedicated feature on the DiGRA website, and complimentary registration for the following year’s DiGRA conference.

Who is eligible?

The program is open to:

  • PhD students currently enrolled in doctoral programs
  • ECRs within eight years of completing their PhD
  • Applicants must be DiGRA members and may self-nominate.

How to apply

Self-nominations are accepted via the form. Applicants will be asked to provide a short profile (up to 500 words), a recent publication, and supplementary materials such as images or project documentation.

Why participate?

The Rising Star spotlight is a unique opportunity for emerging scholars to share their work with the international DiGRA community, gain visibility, and connect with peers.

We look forward to celebrating the creativity, diversity, and achievements of our ECRs and PhD students!
