The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning January 2, 2012 or as shortly as possible thereafter (other ranks considered). All faculty positions require teaching and service responsibilities and an appropriate terminal degree.

For the first position, the successful candidate will primarily teach courses in Game Development and Design, although he or she may occasionally be required to teach courses in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering. The candidate is also expected to conduct research in computer game-related areas, and advise students. For the second position, the successful candidate will teach courses in Game Development and Design and in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering. The candidate is also expected to conduct research in computer game-related areas, and advise students.

Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must state visa type and authorization for permanent employment in the U.S. The position is contingent on funding being available.

Southern Polytechnic State University, a member of the University System of Georgia, is a residential university with over 6,000 students pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in many of the nation’s fastest growing technology fields. Applicants must hold a terminal degree (PhD or MFA) in an area related to computer game development, demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service, and have substantial research potential. The positions are 10-month, tenure-track appointments.
