The Interactive Media Division within USC’s School of Cinematic Arts is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Cinema Practice in the field of Game Design and Development.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished creative leader and educator in the field of game design and development, with both academic and industry experience. Candidates should have extensive hands on experience on released titles (industry, indie, art or otherwise) and a successful history of teaching and/or mentorship of beginning designers. A graduate degree in a related field or an undergraduate degree with extensive, recognized industry experience and/or teaching expertise is required.
Experience in teaching one or more of these areas of game design is preferred:
-Game design (paper and digital prototyping, playtesting, iterative process)
-Game development (Unity experience preferred)
-Student project mentorship
-Experimental gameplay (serious games, art games, alternative interfaces)
-Social and narrative aspects of games
Minimum qualifications:
Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Game Design, or related field.
1 -2 years experience in industry or as a teacher of digital arts.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s Degree or PHD in Game Studies, Computer Science, or related field.
5 – 10 years experience in games industry, or teaching game design and creation. A visionary or leader with signifigant accomplishments in the field, and successful published work.
