The College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) at DePaul University in Chicago invites Game Designers and Producers to apply for a full-time, non-tenure-track position in one of the most innovative and established Game Development programs in the country. An advanced degree is not required for candidates with extensive experience in game development or a related area.

Located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant Loop and Lincoln Park communities, our Game Development degree program features concentrations in game design, gameplay programming, and systems programming. The program is highly cross-disciplinary and is linked with our programs in Animation, Interactive Media, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, and Digital Cinema. The undergraduate degree, started in 2004, has grown quickly to more than 300 students. The graduate degree, first offered in 2009, is also showing strong growth. Students are enthusiastic, engaged, and productive. For example, two DePaul student games, Devil’s Tuning Fork and Octodad, were Independent Games Festival Student Showcase winners in 2010 and 2011. Ideal candidates for the position will have an active interest in game design or game production and have teaching and research/professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

Game Design
– game mechanic design
– level design, creation and evaluation
– design prototyping and evaluation
– playtesting, game usability

Game Production
– project management
– contracts, licensing and budgeting
– project tools, systems and software

Industry experience is a plus. Job responsibilities include teaching, advising, service, supervising student game projects and continued creative activities and/or scholarship in the field. The position begins Fall of 2012. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
