JOB OPENING: FULLTIME PROJECT RESEARCHER
in the field of new media and ICT

The IBBT research group for Media& ICT (IBBT-MICT) of the Department of Communication Studies, Ghent University, Belgium, seeks to fill a fulltime position as project researcher in the field of new media and ICT.

Job description
– You conduct research into the experience and effectiveness of learning games within the interdisciplinary Games @ School (G@S) project
– You perform high-level quantitative data-analysis using software packages such as SPSS and AMOS
– You write research reports and scientific publications
– You become an active member of a dynamic and international team of researchers
– You actively take part in the organization of the research unit
– You collaborate with colleagues with different disciplinary backgrounds and with other organizations and companies
– You support the teaching and organization of the Department of Communication Studies

Profile
– PhD or Master in Communication Studies, Psychology, Educational Sciences, Sociology or other relevant degree at Master level or above
– Previous experience with new media and ICT user research is considered a strong plus
– Strong expertise in methods for sociological, psychological or pedagogical research in general and for user research in particular
– Experience with experimental research (design, organization and data analysis)
– Strong skills in various techniques and software packages for statistical analysis
– An active interest in ICT and new media, including digital games and serious gaming
– Strong academic writing skills
– Academic grades and/or previous scientific publications are a plus
– Enthusiastic and dynamic personality, strong team spirit
