Job: Open faculty position – Chair of the Department of Humanities

Illinois Institute of Technology seeks a distinguished teacher, scholar and leader as Chair of the Department of Humanities in Illinois Tech’s Lewis College of Human Sciences. As the home of humanities research and teaching in a technological university, the department holds a special role in the education of all of Illinois Tech’s students. In addition to a wide range of offerings in the undergraduate general education curriculum, the department offers B.S. degrees in CommunicationDigital Humanities, and Humanities. M.S. degrees are offered in Technical Communication and Information Architecture and in Technology and Humanities. There is also a Ph.D. degree in Technology and Humanities. Illinois Tech has strong programs in architecture, business, computer science, design, engineering, law, mathematics, psychology, and the natural sciences, providing many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

We are looking for a creative scholar, dedicated teacher, and vibrant, strong, and collaborative administrator committed to interdisciplinary work. We currently have faculty in history, philosophy, communications, linguistics, digital humanities, and media. We welcome candidates from these as well as other humanities fields. Candidates for the position are expected to merit appointment at the rank of full professor tenured in the department. Illinois Tech offers competitive compensation and benefits.
