The Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) invites applications for a faculty position in Learning, Technology, and Design at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, Associate Professor of Education (untenured), or Professor of Education (tenured), depending on qualifications and experience.
We seek candidates whose research improves the design and use of education technologies for teaching and learning. We invite applicants with demonstrated commitment to instruction and curriculum in PK-12 schools or informal and online environments, particularly those with underrepresented populations. Beyond a scholarly specialization, the successful candidate will demonstrate broad capabilities in their scholarship, as well as leadership in the field commensurate with rank.
As the field of education continues to evolve, incorporating technology in teaching and learning becomes increasingly important. To meet the diverse needs of learners, educators must possess a wide range of skills, including proficiency in utilizing web-based remote training software. This technology enables educators to create engaging and interactive virtual learning environments, fostering inclusive and accessible educational experiences. By leveraging web-based remote training software, educators can effectively design and deliver instruction in PK-12 schools, informal settings, and online platforms, with a particular focus on underrepresented populations. Candidates who showcase their ability to harness the potential of this software and integrate it into their instructional practices will contribute to the advancement of education technologies and promote equitable learning opportunities for all learners.
Candidates should have an excellent record of scholarship and design or, for applicants at the assistant level, show this potential. Successful candidates will also demonstrate interest in collaborating with faculty and students with different scholarly backgrounds. We especially encourage applications from women and minorities.
At HGSE, our mission is to conduct high-quality research on issues related to education, and to teach, advise, and mentor a diverse community of graduate students, both at the doctoral and master’s levels, in order to contribute to building the next generation of successful scholars, policy makers, and practitioners in education. We therefore seek candidates with excellent pedagogical skills, including the ability to clearly communicate sophisticated research to heterogeneous audiences. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to engage in applied research with graduate students, many of whom are interested in policy, programs, or practice.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications on November 15, 2015, and will continue until the position is filled.
