MIAMI UNIVERSITY (OHIO) – The College of Creative Arts (CCA) and Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies (AIMS) seeks candidates for the Armstrong Professor in Games and Digital Media. This is a full-time tenure-track position and is open at the Assistant and Associate Professor rank.
The Armstrong Professor will be working with other game faculty within AIMS and across Miami
University that comprise the AIMS Game Center.
The Armstrong Professor will
- maintain an active research and creative agenda;
- teach courses in game design, game art and/or game programming, and the overall game development process, including on-line instruction;
- work with students individually on games and undergraduate/graduate thesis work in games design, development, and studies;
- work with colleagues to advance and develop curricula, and help lead co-curricular activities such as Global Game Jam, game-related student organizations, and client-based projects; and
- provide service to the university
Suitable applicants must either
- hold a Ph.D or MFA;
- have an established interest in game design and development demonstrated by past teaching, research, or industry experience;
- demonstrate the ability to teach courses in game design, game art and/or game programming, and the overall game development process; and
- have experience and/or keen interest in online teaching.
For appointment as Associate Professor, an application requires an accomplished research and teaching record meeting Miami’s tenure requirements, including significant peer-evaluated scholarship and/or exhibition along with a record of curricular development and success.
The College of Creative Arts, one of the University’s five academic divisions, includes five departments: Architecture/Interior Design, Art, Music, and Theater.
