Visual and Performing Arts: Visiting Faculty in Game Design

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Game Design and Development for the academic year 2013–2014. This is a one year appointment.

The bachelor of arts in game design and development is an interdisciplinary, pre-professional program that prepares students to enter the highly competitive games industry and is within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Game Design and Development majors choose a track in either game design or in game art. The heart of the program is the six semester game lab where students come together in interdisciplinary teams to build game prototypes.

Responsibilities:
Teach introductory, intermediate and advanced classes for the game design track or the game art track or both. In addition, applicants may be assigned to teach sections of the Game Lab which oversees game project development. A visiting professor will prepare and assign coursework, deliver lectures to students, stimulate class discussions and compile, administer, and grade examinations and assist students with course material.

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants:
Qualified applicants must have a master’s degree, or MFA, or a terminal degree in a related field. Experience in industry or a background in game design or in game art and previous teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Knowledge of Autodesk applications (modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, motion capture), Adobe Creative Suite, Gamemaker, Unity3d, Corona/Lua, HTML5/ javascript, iOS/Android development is a plus.
