Elina Roinioti

About Me

Elina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Performing and Digital Arts at the University of Peloponnese, Greece, specializing in interactive storytelling, narrative design, video game production (with a focus on cultural tropes, cultural policies, and video games) and the intersections of video game culture and performance theory. She holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Communication, Media, and Culture at Panteion University.

From 2020 to 2022, she conducted postdoctoral research on Greek video game developers, funded by the National Scholarship Foundation. Elina has taught in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has participated in several national and international research projects on topics such as social inclusion, immigration, political participation, gamification, and game design. These projects were conducted in collaboration with institutions such as Panteion University, the National Centre for Social Research, the University of Oslo, the University of Peloponnese, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

She has also contributed to game design and development projects for international game festivals, including Playpublik in Krakow, as well as cultural institutions like the Onassis Stegi. Since 2015, she has served as a scientific collaborator and consultant in digital games for both the private (Kickstarter) and public sectors.

Elina is the editor-in-chief of the edited volume Digital Games: Philosophical, Social, and Cultural Investigations (Oasis) and co-author of the book Digital Games and Learning (Kallipos, 2023).
