About Me

I’m a lecturer in Screen at the University of Hull, UK. I teach and research in the are of screen studies, visual narratives, video games, television, media, film, and cultural studies. My research specialism are in  adaptation, memory and nostalgia, with a particular interest in the intersection of identity and material object reality. In relation to video games I am particularly interested in participatory narratives and environments, and affect as a driver for interaction, as well as human-computer interactions.

I have published on adaptation, representations of the past, memory and nostalgia, and material cultures of television, and I am currently researching visual narratives of the post-apocalyptic realities across different media forms.

I am a member of the editorial board for Open Screens, the interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access online journal of the British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies (https://www.openscreensjournal.com/). I am also a member of the editorial board for Multiplay, the network for multidisciplinary research on Digital Play and Games (https://multiplaynetwork.org/).
