Abertay University seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Media Theory and Game Studies within the Division of Games and Arts in the School of Arts, Media and Computer Games. Candidates should be in possession of a PhD in a relevant subject, with clear emphasis on game studies in the framework of the humanities, before beginning employment.
Topics of particular focus can include game history (digital and analogue), design theory, digital culture, game aesthetics, play studies, critical theory, screen and media studies, narratology, electronic literature or other related fields. The successful candidate will have both a strong theoretical foundation and a documented history of internationally recognised research and publication in their discipline. The appointed lecturer will teach on the history, theory and contexts of games, interactive media and computer arts to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Arts, Media and Computer Games while pursuing relevant research and practice within their field.
