Job: Visiting Assistant Professor – English

The Department of English at Purdue University invites applications for a position as Visiting Assistant Professor in Professional and Technical Writing in the program in Rhetoric and Composition with specialization in Gaming Studies and/or Usability/User Experience Design.


The successful candidate will teach 5 courses during the 2017-2018 academic year from among undergraduate course offerings in support of the undergraduate professional writing major and new minor. A PhD in Rhetoric, Technical and/or Professional Communication, Composition, Gaming, Writing Studies, or closely related field is required at time of appointment. ABD candidates will be considered for interviews, but PhD must be completed prior to start date. No committee work will be assigned.

The starting date for the position is August 14, 2017. Applicants should submit a letter of application describing scholarship in the area, relevant professional experience, as well as teaching preparation; a CV; names and contact information for three references; as well as a syllabus for an upper-level undergraduate course the applicant has taught or would like to teach in the area of professional writing.
