Event announcement: “Giro Giro Tondo. Design for Children” (Apr 1, 2017 – Feb 18, 2018, Milan, Italy)

New exhibition “Giro Giro Tondo. Design for Children” is now open at the Triennale Museum of Design in Milan, Italy.

The 10th edition of the Triennale exhibition provides an overview of Italian design, focusing specifically on the playful world of children, thus toys, games, illustrated books, and more, covering a broad palette of intentions, practices, and objects. Visitors will get a glimpse of both the species of amusements and the spaces of play from late 18th century to the 21st. Finally, “Giro Giro Tondo” features recent video games developed by Italian indie studios such as Santa Ragione, We Are Muesli and more. Giro Giro Tondo will remain open until February 18, 2018. Expect a plethora of collateral events/talks\/workshops etc. (Full disclosure: I was involved in the planning of the exhibition.)

Even if you can’t make it to Milan, I highly recommend the bi-lingual catalog (English/Italian), a massive tome (432 pages ) published by Electa, featuring critical essays on some of the greatest Italian game designers of all time , including Bruno Munari, Gianni Rodari , and Maria Montessori.
