The Research Centre in Technoculture, Art and Games at Concordia University in Montreal invites letters of interest for the 2013-2014 Canadian Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. If successful the position is for two years and pays a yearly (taxable) stipend of CAD $70,000. Details about the program can be found on the following government website:
http://banting.fellowships-bourses.gc.ca/home-accueil-eng.html
Unlike other Canadian postdoctoral fellowships this prestigious award is available to foreign nationals and requires close collaboration on the application from the host institution. Technoculture, Art and Games (TAG) at Concordia University is a merrily growing research centre and part of a thriving hub of game studies and design in Montreal (see http://www.tag.hexagram.ca). We are in a position to provide significant infrastructural resources, an active and enthusiastic scholarly community of faculty and students, links to industry and community and we welcome the participation and inclusion of potential Banting postdoctoral candidates.
Because of the requirement of close collaboration in the postdoctoral application we would like to solicit letters of interest and CVs from game studies and design scholars whose research might constructively intersect with TAG faculty with a deadline of August 16, 2012. We welcome letters of interest from PhD holders in any discipline related to game studies and/or design. Letters of interest should speak to the Banting award criteria describing qualifications and interests along with a brief description of a 2 year postdoctoral research project. A current CV should also be included. All materials can be sent electronically to the TAG director, Bart Simon (bart.simon @concordia.ca)
Our turnaround time will be quick and candidates have to be ready to work fast. A committee of the TAG research centre will make a decision on the best candidate to support by August 23, 2012 and then proceed to work with that candidate on a LOI for the Concordia Office of Research due August 31, 2012. If approved, the final application is due September 13, 2012. Because of the extremely competitive nature of this award we cannot guarantee that any application will be successful.
