We are seeking a professional designer for a faculty position with teaching duties in the “Game Design” course of studies. The position requires the appropriate artistic and design-oriented know how with demonstrated experience in large-scale game productions on the international level. Expected are substantial knowledge and practical experience within a
creative-technical development environment of digital games and interactive consumer applications. The majority of the following fields should be covered: level design, experience with Unreal Editor or similar level editors, lighting, 3D software, animation, scripting, and creation of interactive environments. Personal expertise may be in 3D design, animation, or level design, but all these fields shall be taught. The artistic-design competence will be evaluated by portfolio including work samples. The portfolio should include the usual exponents such as games, models, and videos on disc or digital data media (no exclusively online portfolios will be accepted), as well as a precise account of personal achievements. This is a fixed-term position for five years with an option for extension depending on the future development of the course of study.

Requirements for the appointment:
Requirements for the appointment (academic, pedagogic and practical professional qualifications) are determined according to § 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz). Pedagogic-didactic skills resultant of comprehensive teaching experience gained in a previous position are required and should be proven. It is expected that the successful applicant is willing and able to conduct teaching sessions in the basic subjects (some chosen courses being taught in English) as well as acquiring and implementing applied research projects. As HTW is currently seeking to increase the number of female professors, applications from female candidates are actively encouraged. Severely disabled applicants shall receive preference in the event of comparable suitability. A part-time position may be considered under certain circumstances. If they do not do so already, successful applicants are expected to take up residence in the City State of Berlin. Foreign applicants should possess sufficient knowledge of the German language.
